No cap prevents heat illness or completes a sun-protection plan. The Korea Meteorological Administration recommends shade at midday plus a hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen when the UV Index reaches 6. At 8 or above, it advises avoiding outdoor exposure from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The CDC says the broadest hat protection comes from a brim that shades the face, ears, and back of the neck. What the evidence actually adds for Ciele is a published 42 g weight, two circumference references, a pliable brim, and machine washing. Nike does not publish weight or centimeter circumference on the Korean product page, so the evidence cannot support claims that it is heavier or better for a larger head. Leaving missing values blank is more useful than inventing a score.
Total cost includes delivery and care. On and Nike advertised free delivery on the checked pages. Ciele’s ₩78,000 order clears the displayed domestic free-delivery threshold. BUFF showed ₩3,000 delivery below ₩30,000, which would make a single headband ₩31,000 if the same terms remain after restock; it cannot currently be ordered. Recheck SCOTT delivery at checkout. None requires a subscription or proprietary consumable, but frequent hand washing adds ongoing effort.
What if sweat runs into your eyes?
Look at the band against the forehead before the brim. On specifies a polyamide-polyester-elastane sweatband and side perforations. Ciele describes fast-drying, odor-control COOLmatic | PLUS MIKRAmesh across the crown, sides, and headband. SCOTT lists an integrated sweatband and DRYOxcell fabric. Nike lists Dri-FIT ADV, AeroBill, and front and side perforations. BUFF wraps a broad brimless strip of 95/5 stretch fabric around the forehead. These material descriptions are not a shared test proving that sweat never reaches the eyes. Sweat rate, brow shape, hair, tension, and humidity all change the result. Reduce the chance of failure in this order:

What if the sun reaches your face and scalp?
A cap shades the face and covers the top of the head. A visor shades the face while leaving the crown open. A headband manages sweat and hair but casts no facial shade. That distinction is larger than a fabric technology name.

Ciele’s exact FSTCap SC Comp page says “sun protection” but does not publish a numeric UPF. The exact BUFF Korea page includes UV in the product name, yet this research did not verify a numeric UPF and test condition for model 135904901. The guide therefore does not rank either model by an unsupported number. Nike’s reflective details may supplement visibility, but Nike explicitly says this product is not personal protective equipment.
If your face, ears, and neck burn easily, a 360-degree wide-brim or a cap with a neck cape is a better category than these five. The CDC advises covering ears and the back of the neck with clothing, sunscreen, or shade when wearing a baseball-style cap. Do not buy a short-brim running cap as complete sun protection.
What if your crown feels too hot?
A visor leaves the crown most open, and a headband follows. The tradeoff is direct sunlight on exposed scalp. In strong midday sun, the form that feels more ventilated is not automatically the safer one.
Ciele is the lightest on the published numbers, but the 16 g gap to On does not predict an identical comfort advantage on every head. Depth, brim balance, and closure position change pressure.
